The Impact of Vegan and Omnivorous Diets on Aging

This study explores the effects of vegan versus omnivorous diets on aging by examining DNA methylation in twins over eight weeks (Dwaraka VB et.al., 2024).

DNA methylation is a process that can affect gene expression and has been linked to aging.

The study found that a vegan diet reduced the epigenetic markers of aging, showing potential anti-aging benefits.

Blood samples revealed that the vegan diet decreased epigenetic age acceleration and influenced various biological systems differently compared to an omnivorous diet.

These findings suggest that a short-term vegan diet may slow aging processes, supporting personalized nutrition strategies for healthy aging.
