Can omega 3 fatty acids help your memory?

By July 14, 2023November 9th, 2025No Comments1 min read

Research indicates that supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids, specifically DHA and/or EPA, can help delay cognitive decline in elderly individuals with mild cognitive impairment (Yang L, et.al., 2023).

A comprehensive review of twelve studies showed that compared to a placebo, these supplements had a positive effect on cognition.

However, they didn’t significantly improve language fluency, executive functions, or depression symptoms. Furthermore, these supplements may lower levels of certain blood markers linked to Alzheimer’s disease like amyloid-β related biomarkers and inflammatory factors like IL-6 and IL-10.

When using omega 3 fatty acids, buy a formula high in EPA and DHA because the body needs both EPA and DHA.
