Easy way to help reduce the risk of heart disease

This study is interesting because it provides information on how we can easily reduce the risk for a common problem like heart disease (Brondum-Jacobsen P, et al. 2012). 10,170 Danish men and women were tested for plasma 25-hydroxy vitamin D and followed for 29 years.

Decreasing plasma 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels were associated with increasing risk of ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction, and early death.

In the meta-analyses of 18 and 17 studies, the risk of ischemic heart disease and early death were increased by 39% and 46% for the lowest versus the highest quartile of 25-hydroxyvitamin D level.

Just by taking 2000 IU of vitamin D3 daily most people would improve their cardiovascular health. It can’t be much easier than that. Vitamin D provides numerous health benefits.
