Reducing the risk for stroke does not have to be that hard according to the research reviewed. Data from 19 studies including 47,921 participants were analyzed to see if there was an association between vitamin B supplementation, homocysteine levels and cardiovascular and all-cause mortality (Huang T, et al. 2012). Homocysteine is an amino acid. Certain studies have found an association between elevated homocysteine and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. The results documented reduced homocysteine levels in all of the studies and the researchers concluded that B vitamin supplementation has a significant protective effect on stroke, but not for other cardiovascular conditions. There are of course a lot of other important things you can also do to help prevent stroke and also other cardiovascular conditions. One important factor is the food you eat on a daily basis.
